    Private Notice Question
    I have to inform you that the Honourable Leader of the Opposition, Mr Paul Raymond Bérenger, G.C.S.K., MP, has given notice of the following Private Notice Question which he proposes to put to Dr the Honourable Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Economic Empowerment at the sitting to be held today, Tuesday 21 July 2009 at 11.30 a.m.

    To ask Dr the Honourable Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Economic Empowerment –

    Whether he has taken cognizance of the judgment of the Supreme Court, dated 19 November 2008, to the effect that the committee, set up under section 11 of the Mauritius Revenue Authority Act for the selection and recruitment exercise of officers, was not lawfully constituted and had acted illegally and, if so, will he, for the benefit of the House, obtain from the Mauritius Revenue Authority, information

    as to the –

    (a) remedial measures that have been taken; and

    (b) impact of the judgment, if any, on the Assessment Review Committee in the discharge of its functions and, if so, how?

    Private Notice Question 

    I have to inform you that the Honourable Leader of the Opposition, Mr Paul Raymond Bérenger, G.C.S.K., MP, has given notice of the following Private Notice Question which he proposes to put to Dr the Honourable Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Home Affairs at the sitting to be held today, Tuesday 14 July 2009 at 11.30 a.m.

    To ask Dr the Honourable Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Home Affairs –

    Whether, in regard to C. C. he will, for the benefit of the House, obtain from the Commissioner of Police, information as to the circumstances in which he was arrested and left Mauritius, indicating –

    (a) in both cases if the Interpol has been involved;

    (b) pending the determination of his appeal –

    (i) if the Police had objected to his release on bail; and

    (ii) how long after he failed to report to the Bel Ombre Police Station the Police Headquarters was alerted;

    (c) if anyone has been arrested locally; and

    (d) if any report has been received from the authorities from France and Réunion Island?

    Private Notice Question 
     I have to inform you that the Honourable Leader of the Opposition, Mr Paul Raymond Bérenger, G.C.S.K., MP, has given notice of the following Private Notice Question which he proposes to put to the Honourable Minister of Agro Industry, Food Production and Security at the sitting to be held today, Tuesday 07 July 2009 at 11.30 a.m. 

     To ask Dr the Honourable Minister of Agro Industry, Food Production and Security –  

    Whether, in regard to fisheries, he will state -

    (a) how the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2006 between the Ministry and the Syndicat des Pêcheurs is being implemented, indicating the -

    (i) number of registered fishermen for Mauritius and Rodrigues, in and off-lagoon, indicating their respective catch on a yearly basis, since 2006 to date; and

    (ii) progress made by the Fishermen Investment Trust;

    (b) where matters stand concerning the Fishing Agreement with the European Union; and  

    (c) if he attended the first Ministerial Meeting of African, Caribbean and Pacific Ministers in Charge of Fisheries held in June last?

    Private Notice Question

    I have to inform you that the Honourable Leader of the Opposition, Mr Paul Raymond Bérenger, G.C.S.K., MP, has given notice of the following Private Notice Question which he proposes to put to Dr the Honourable Minister of Health and Quality at the sitting to be held today, Tuesday 30 June 2009 at 11.30 a.m.  
    To ask Dr the Honourable Minister of Health and Quality of Life -  

     Whether, in regard to the swine influenza (A(H1N1)), he will state -

    (a) if a first case has been confirmed in Mauritius; 

    (b) the testing facilities available locally;  

    (c) the screening done of incoming passengers onboard planes and at disembarkment;

    (d) if Government has ordered vaccines which have recently started being produced;

    (e) the special arrangements made vis-à vis the high-risk countries; and  

    (f) the measures Government proposes to take for those proceeding on the forthcoming Hajj pilgrimage?

    I have to inform you that the Honourable Leader of the Opposition, Mr Paul Raymond Bérenger, G.C.S.K., MP, has given notice of the following Private Notice Question which he proposes to put to Dr the Honourable Minister of Finance and Economic Empowerment, at the sitting to be held today, Tuesday 23 June 2009 at 11.30 a.m.

    To ask Dr the Honourable Minister of Finance and Economic Empowerment

    Whether, in regard to the Bank of Mauritius, he will state -

    (a) why its annual report and audited accounts for 2007-2008 have not been laid before the National Assembly;

    (b) the average rate of interest earned on invested reserves as compared to that paid on foreign loans, indicating total revenue and expenditure for 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 to date;

    (c) the profits transferred to Government by the Bank in 2008-2009; and

    (d) if he is aware of cases of abuse thereat and of conflicting situation prevailing at the level of the Board?
